PTO Executive Board Officer and Committee Chair Descriptions
The PTO Executive Board is comprised of elected officers, committee chairs, and school representatives.
It meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Friday of the month to conduct PTO business.
Evening meetings that are open to all parents take place two times per year.

- President – Serve as leader and key contact for the PTO, preside at all meetings; ex-officio member of most committees; coordinate the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met.
- Executive Vice President – Act as an aide to the President; perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve; assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Board; coordinate the general activities of any special committees. Ideally, is willing to serve as President in the future.
- Vice President – Shall assist the President and shall assume the President’s duties in his/her absence. The vice president shall assist with the activities of any special committees such as fundraising, membership and staff appreciation luncheon.
- Treasurer – Be responsible for and have custody of all funds; make disbursements as properly authorized; be present at all PTO events where money will be collected; prepare financial reports for each meeting and as needed.
- Corresponding Secretary – Prepare correspondence and perform all other duties assigned to communication; keep the calendar of events for the PTO.
- Recording Secretary – Keep the minutes of all meetings of the Executive Board.
- UPTC Delegate – Represent the school at district–wide United Parent Teacher Council (UPTC) meetings and sub–committee meetings. Responsibilities include attending monthly meetings and reporting back to the Executive Board.
- Shared Decision Making Committee Chair – Be responsible for coordinating meetings of this committee made up of parents, faculty and students. The committee seeks to identify and define a wide range of goals to promote the educational mission of South High School.
- SEPTA Delegate – Represent the school at Special Education PTA (SEPTA) meetings and events and report back to the Executive Board.
- Multilingual Coordinator – Facilitate translation for non-English speaking families.
