President's Message
We are thrilled to welcome all new and returning families to Great Neck South HS and we wish everyone a great school year ahead!
The PTO’s mission is to serve as a bridge for communication and collaboration between the school administration, teachers and Great Neck families. Our goal is to positively impact the lives of our children and families through the high school journey. Through a wide range of efforts working together at GNSHS, we serve as parent advocates and liaisons and support the school community through sponsorships of select events and programming needs.
As we return to school for another exciting academic year, we ask that you please join the PTO by paying your membership dues ($35 per family). All monies collected go directly back into our school to support activities and programs that enhance our student’s experiences at South High. PTO contributions go towards senior awards, scholarships, community outreach events and guest speakers. The PTO has also sponsored one-time purchases that are necessary but may not be funded by the district budget. In the past, “follow spotlights” used for all auditorium programs and new safety goggles for the science department are among some of the items funded using PTO resources.
We strongly encourage you to engage with the PTO in any way that you are able to. Your participation opens up opportunities for you to take part in your children’s school lives. Please attend PTO meetings whenever possible so that you can become more informed about what is going on at school. We also recommend that you attend school district Board of Education meetings, volunteer on UPTC committees, and participate in district votes. By doing so, you will not only learn about the issues of concern in our district, but, most importantly, you will have a voice. And, you will show your children the importance of getting involved and fulfilling your civic duties.
